Songmi Han is co-author with Casey Lartigue of the book Greenlight to Freedom: A North Korean Daughter’s Search for Her Mother & Herself.
She first joined FSI in November 2019 with the goal of improving her English. She was hired as a part-time Special Assistant at FSI in early 2021, and later that year she joined the FSI North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network.

Dr. Bonghee Han joined the Freedom Speakers International English Empowerment program in mid-2018. She was getting prepared to publish her father’s memoir in Korean the following year. In early 2021, she began collaborating with FSI to publish her father’s memoir in English, “My Father’s North Korea Story: Walk to Freedom.”

Youngnam (Ken) joined Freedom Speakers International (FSI) in 2015 as both a public speaker and English language student. He has been a featured speaker at numerous FSI events, including FSI’s 2019 Korean Reunification conference.

Eunmi Park joined Freedom Speakers International as an English language student in May 2014 shortly after she escaped from North Korea. She has kept a low profile over the last eight years. She has spoken at three FSI events, but she was never announced as a speaker and her identity remained hidden. In 2022, she joined FSI’s North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network.

Evelyn Jeong joined the Freedom Speakers International (FSI) North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network in early 2021. She was a featured speaker at two FSI conferences that year, the International Freedom Conference in April 2021 and the Regional Freedom Conference in May 2021.

Yuna Jung joined the English Empowerment program of Freedom Speakers International in 2018. She was the winner of FSI’s 11th English Speech Contest in September 2020. She was a featured speaker at FSI’s Ivy League Conference for Korean Unification at Harvard University in the United States in late 2019. She joined the North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network when it was formed in late 2020.

Chanyang joined Freedom Speakers International (FSI) in early 2013 as an English language student. She has been a popular speaker over the years and has appeared in numerous media outlets. She was a guest speaker at FSI’s 6th English Speech Contest and joined FSI’s North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network when it was formed in late 2020.

Eunhee Park joined Freedom Speakers International in 2015. She originally focused solely on English, studying in FSI’s English Empowerment program starting in 2015. In 2016, she began dabbling in public speaking.In early 2016, at an event hosted by the American Women’s Club in Seoul with Freedom Speakers International, Eunhee gave her first public speech. She hid her identity at the time, but she had taken her first step out of anonymity. In August 2016, she competed in FSI’s English Speech Contest.

Dr. Junghun Choi joined Freedom Speakers International (FSI)’s North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network in 2020 as an expert on North Korea’s COVID-19 situation.

Eunseo Jang joined Freedom Speakers International in early 2015 as an English language student and public speaker. Since mid-2019, she has been an office assistant at Freedom Speakers International. She joined FSI’s North Korean Refugee Keynote Speakers Network when it was formed in late 2020.

Minhee Na joined the Freedom Speakers International (FSI) English Empowerment program in 2017. After improving her English ability, she joined FSI’s Public Speaking program in 2018. She has given speeches at numerous FSI events and delivered her first international speech in late March 2022.

When Cherie Yang joined Freedom Speakers International in January 2015 as a student and public speaker, almost immediately she was selected to go on a speaking tour across the USA. In 2017, she was the winner of FSI’s 5th English speech contest and later that year gave a TEDx Talk in London. She was the first North Korean refugee to serve on FSI’s Board of Directors.

I worked as a doctor for 10 years after graduating from medical school in North Korea. After I defected to South Korea, I graduated from oriental medical school and I am currently working as an oriental doctor.

I defected from North Korea in 2004 and arrived in South Korea that fall. In 2007, I was admitted to the Political Science and Diplomacy department of a Korean university. When I was an undergraduate student, I withdrew from school for 2 years and moved to Texas, USA, to receive one year of apprenticeship training at the YWAM missionary organization.

황인철

In-cheol Hwang joined Freedom Speakers International in March 2016 after he was a featured speaker at FSI’s International Volunteer Workshop. Later that year, he was named as the FSI Fellow in Human Dignity.
He was two years old when his father was kidnapped with 49 other South Koreans on board a Korean Air Lines flight. He now wages a tireless campaign to bring his father home.

Casey Lartigue is an advocate and activist for educational freedom who has gained recognition in both South Korea and the United States. He is now based in South Korea where he is co-founder and co-president of Freedom Speakers International along with South Korean researcher Lee Eunkoo.

Hyang Hyun joined Freedom Speakers International in 2018 as a student to study English. She is a lecturer at the South Korean Ministry of Defense and has given a variety of speeches related to North Korean human rights.
